How to Add a User to the Mitel Mobility Router

Director Setup

ShoreTel 14.2

  1. In ShoreTel Director, browse to the user under Administration > Users > Individual Users
  2. Document the user’s Extension number and DID for use in the Mobility Router setup later
  3. Scroll Down to the Mobility Options and check the ‘Allow Mobile Access’ and the ‘Allow Enhanced Mobility with Extension’ boxes. Make note of the extension the system assigns for use in Step 6
  4. Scroll Down to the SIP Password field and delete the current password and enter at least a 6-character password (e.g. changeme). This will be used later in the Mobility Configuration section
  5. Save the changes on the user
  6. Go back to Individual Users and look for the new Mobility Extension that was just added in step 4, and Open that User Account
  7. Scroll down to the user’s Client ID and write it down (Generally formatted as: FirstName_LastName_Extension) for use in later in the Mobility Configuration section

MiVoice Connect

  1. In Mitel Director, browse to the user under Administration > Users > Users
  2. Document the user’s Extension number and DID for use in the Mobility Router setup later
  3. In the Telephony tab, check the ‘Enable enhanced mobility with extension’ box.
  4. In the General tab, find the SIP Password field and delete the current password and enter at least a 6-character password (e.g. changeme). This will be used later in the Mobility Configuration section
  5. Save the changes on the user

Mobility Router Setup

  1. Log into the Mobility Router’s configuration page
    • https:///admin
    • Login: admin
    • Password: ShoreTel
  2. On the Top Select Configuration and then on the left side Select Groups and Users. Then Select Users 
  3. Once on the User Page Click the Add button on the bottom of the page
  4. On the General Tab fill out using info below:
    • Group: Select Mobility Group (whichever Group is setup in the system)
    • User ID: Enter a User ID to be entered on the Mobile App software (Note: This is case sensitive, we recommended using the user’s normal client user name or extension #)
    • Full Name: Enter Users First & Last Name
    • Local User: Check this box
    • Password: Enter a password the user will use to sign into the Mobile App Software (Can be numbers or letters)
    • Enabled: Check this box
  5. Click Next
  6. Select the Line Tab fill out using info below:
    • Enterprise Extension: Enter the user’s Ext from Step 2 in the Director configuration section
    • Enterprise Full Number: Enter the user’s full DID number from Step 2
    • Forwarding Number: Leave Blank
    • PBX-Side Security: Set Option to Digest.
      • Set User ID: 14.2 Setup – Use the Client ID from Step 7
      • Connect Setup – Use the Extension from Step 3
    • Set Password: The SIP Password in Step 4
    • Leave Both Client Side Security Options set to None (These are only used on Nokia Phones)
  7. Click Apply

This user should now be able to log in to the Mobility client on their mobile device. After they do so, you can check their registration status in the Mobility router under Monitor > Users > Active Users. Provisioning Status indicates if they’ve successfully provisioned their user on their mobile device, and PBX Registration Status indicates if the mobile device has registered with the Headquarters server as a SIP device.

Mobile App

Users will need to download the newest version of the Mitel Connect application from their app store based on the type of phone they have. Please do not use the deprecated ‘ShoreTel Mobility’ application that may still be in the App stores.

Users will need to know their username and password from their Director user profile. This is the same username and password they use to log into Communicator/ the Connect Client.

  1. Enter the following information into the first screen of the Mobility application on your phone (see diagram 1).
    • Username: client username
    • Type of Service: MiVoice Connect (Premise)
    • Server Address: eth0 IP address of the Mobility Router
  2. Click Next.
  3. Enter the following information into the second screen of the Mobility application (see diagram 2)
    • Password: client password
    • Mobile Number: your device’s phone number
  4. Click Next

If you are logging into the application while your device is connected to a WiFi network that has local access to the Mobility Router, the phone will continue provisioning.
If you are logging into the application from any network that does not have local access to the Mobility Router (cell data, remote WiFi), a Remote Address window will open.

  1. Enter the following information into the Remote Address fields.
    • Remote Address: Remote public IP or FQDN (typically set up as mobility.domain.com)
    • Port: 443
  2. Click Next and the phone will continue provisioning.
