Mobile unified communications took another big step forward this week with the new releases of ShoreTel® Mobility 6 and ShoreTel® Conferencing, both helping to add collaborative tools that turn the Apple iPad into a truly full-service business communications device.
The new releases come just in time, as businesses increasingly turn to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to make communications easier for employees so they can use their own personal devices for business communications. Apple products still hold the lion’s share of those devices, and ShoreTel hopes that development of the mobile applications may help spur further adoption of business unified communications and VoIP business technology.
““The Apple iPad has quickly become the most popular tablet brought by users into the workplace,” said Peter Blackmore, chief executive officer, ShoreTel. “ShoreTel transforms the iPad into a true multi-modal business communications device – for placing and receiving calls just like a desk phone, for sending and responding to instant messages, and for easily collaborating with other PC, Mac and iPad users.”
The iOS conferencing app makes it easier than ever to share presentations or view shared desktops across iPad devices, improving collaboration between remote team members or clients.
The new apps are now available for free download at the Apple App Store and follow other 2013 ShoreTel® releases including ShoreTel® 13.1, which dded web conferencing for SmartPhone devices, and ShoreTel® Enterprise Contact Center 8, which was issued to help improve communication for enterprise contact center employees and their customers.
